As a software engineer at Vadum you will plan, guide, and execute the software development process for real-time streaming analytics solutions. Duties:

  • Participate in all phases of the software development life cycle (requirements analysis, high level design, detailed design, coding, unit test, integration, system level test).
  • Plan, manage, and execute integration of prototype algorithms written in MATLAB or Python into production (i.e., C++, JAVA, etc.) codebases.
  • Manage and guide teams designing and developing software products including the development of reasonable schedules and progress metrics
  • Direct junior engineers developing, modifying, and testing new and existing algorithms in production software codebases
  • Participate in peer-review of code and design; instruct junior engineers in best practice for code and design review
  • Assist in developing software system testing procedures, programming, and documentation.
  • Operate with broad direction and requires minimal supervision.

Preferred Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficiency in C/C++ as well as familiarity with Java, Python, TensorFlow, Scikit-Learn, and/or MATLAB
  • Ability to direct, manage, and mentor junior software engineers and scientists in software development best practices
  • Ability to effectively communicate with algorithm developers, program managers, and other stakeholders regarding software development efforts
  • Familiarity with streaming data processing frameworks such as Kafka / Spark/ Hadoop 
  • Familiarity with Functional Programming concepts and styles. 

Education Required:

  • BS or higher in scientific or engineering field AND significant professional software development experience

Human Resources Manager

FLSA Classification:  Exempt

Reports to:  Director of Operations Management 

The Human Resource Manager will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including interviewing and on-boarding staff, assisting with management of compensation/benefits/leave, and enforcing company policies and practices.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications. Provide facilitation of HR related trainings to staff as needed.
  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Conducts or acquires applicant references, background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Assists with the development, coordination and implementation of employee recognition programs, on-boarding programs, job description development, etc.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Provide support to employees in various HR-related topics such as leaves and compensation and resolve any HR issues that may arise. 
  • Promote HR programs to create an efficient and conflict-free workplace. 
  • Organize quarterly and annual employee performance reviews. 
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Assist in the communication, interpretation, and upkeep of employee handbook, employee directory, and organizational chart.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Systems Engineer

FLSA Classification:  Exempt

Reports to:  Technical Program Manager

Successful Systems Engineers effectively balance their time between working closely with the key technical team members to understand the technology underpinning core Vadum products, and business area leads to drive new opportunities and providing internal feedback obtained from the customer. Systems Engineers serve as trusted technical consultants, influencing customer and Vadum technical direction to ensure mutual long-term success. Duties:

Customer interface, requirements development, design reviews, and technical interchanges, and all aspects of prototype/product system development, test, integration, demonstration, and evaluation.

Qualifications:

  • Experience developing and implementing real-time system architectures for one or more of the following applications: signal detection, geolocation, modulation/demodulation of modern digital communications waveforms, beamforming, adaptive array processing, radar range and Doppler processing, spread spectrum and or MIMO communications
  • Experience programming in a high-level programming language (e.g. C, C++, Python, MATLAB etc.)
  • Experience with measurement or test applications and Software-Defined Radios (SDRs)

Technical Program Manager

FLSA Classification:  Exempt

Reports to:  Business Area Manager 

Vadum is looking for a skilled leader to guide and lead its program management function and teams from concept development through delivery.  We need your experience as our team grows. Duties: 

  • Develop a deep understanding of, and help shape, customer requirements; contribute to marketing strategy and pursuit of programs; and development of the opportunity pipeline 
  • Assist in positioning for and capturing opportunities and lead subsequent resulting tasks
  • Contribute to the product development strategy of tactical EW analytics, distributed EW, streaming data processing, application of machine learning and artificial intelligence, and early TRL defense technology development
  • Coordinate and work with a world-class engineering team and business developers to selectively commercialize Vadum’s technologies  
  • Build a team of technical and program personnel to execute the customer and Vadum vision for each program within cost, quality, and time constraints
  • Build customer relationships to create additional opportunities
  • Oversight of employees assigned to programs from technical and administrative perspective, implementing industry best practices to meet contract requirements
  • Establish milestones and ensure adherence to master plans and schedules, identifies and manage risks, address program problems, and develops mitigations/solutions
  • Presents formal and informal project status/plan briefings to the government and corporate managers through oral and written communications  
  • Actively participate in program definition and capture for existing and new customers
  • Serve as contract representative and be responsible for managing all aspects of the program, including project planning, development and implementation according to cost, schedule, and technical (scope) requirements
  • Participate as a senior member of Vadum’s leadership team in growing and achieving its corporate goals in building the capabilities of the company and increasing its long-term value 

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of DoD appropriations and requirements processes
  • Ability to engage key client stakeholders to identify needs, and discuss Vadum capabilities and services

  • Ability to analyze current market needs and identify viable business development opportunities by understanding a diverse set of corporate capabilities and matching them up with client needs

  • 5+ years of experience with tactical Electronic Warfare with any DoD service as an operator, technologist, or program manager
  • Experience as senior enlisted, military officer, or GS-14 or higher civilian, including working with DoD organizations supporting research and development (R&D), acquisition & fielding, tactics, technique, and procedure (TTP) development, or test and evaluation (T&E)
  • Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
