Modeling & Simulation

Vadum employs simulation in almost all program development for concept refinement and verification prior to product implementation. In addition, Vadum develops custom simulation capabilities as components of products including the use of simulations as a component of real-time analysis in conjunction with measurements and observations.

Vadum simulation expertise ranges from high-fidelity communications and electronic warfare engagement with aircraft and missile kinematics to high speed, lower fidelity simulations of many physical and analytics processes. Vadum simulation tools emphasize real-time or rapid execution with sufficient detail to verify algorithms and hardware system operation in representative use cases.

Vadum also uses leading modeling and computer aided design tools in nearly all product development to leverage the advances gained by designing in a virtual environment prior to physical implementation. (probably good to have 3D printer and some 3D artwork).

EOD Robotics

Vadum has developed the only functional, compact solution to provide bomb disposal personnel a flexible multi-shot disruptor for neutralizing explosive hazards. Combining deep knowledge of robust mechanical and electronic system designs, the Vadum MRED provides military EOD operators and civilian bomb squads with unprecedented capabilities to remotely employ a kinetic disruptor that increases safety by limiting human contact with an explosive threat and reducing the time necessary to neutralize the threat. Developed for integration with many current and future ground robot platforms, the MRED provides leap ahead capabilities compared to existing EOD disruptors.

Machine Learning Assisted

Machine learning and artificial intelligence technology employment has revolutionized many everyday applications. Vadum has leveraged technologies from commercial markets to improve defense applications in object classification and clutter rejection, path planning optimization, and pattern learning. Application areas include radar test and measurement, ballistic and airborne missile defense, and electronic warfare situational awareness.

RF Sensor and Components

Vadum engineers have decades of RF and microwave hardware design expertise. From antennas to complete RF systems, Vadum builds custom products that exploit the laws of physics to realize new object detection and measurement modalities. Specific examples include short range radars for electronics detection, multi-modal sensors for mine detection, and standoff explosives detection. Vadum operates comfortably in the DC to daylight frequency range with systems performing from a few MHz to hundreds of GHz. Combined with inhouse signal processing and analytics development and physics-based phenomena exploitation, Vadum produces turn-key RF systems from blue-sky concepts to robust, field tested operation.

Decision Aids

A data rich world complicates the task of human experts to understand the environment they operate in. Processing and interpreting multiple sources of information in real-time to influence decisions for military operations requires advanced software solutions to handle the scope, scale, heterogeneity, and rate of data arrival that overwhelms traditional military decision making processes. Vadum has developed a product line of streaming analytics software to perform real-time information analysis, for tactical applications. Featuring a flexible software architecture for execution on small standalone to distributed cloud-based computing platforms, the decision aid product line unlocks the potential of data to bring knowledge to the warfighter. Applications in electronic warfare, chem-bio defense, and personnel health monitoring have demonstrated the architecture utility.
