RF and Microwave Systems & Sensors

Advanced RF and microwave sensing, radar, antenna, and directed energy technologies enhancing spectrum awareness and mission effectiveness

Engineering advantage

Vadum develops advanced RF and microwave systems that enable next-generation sensing, radar, antenna, directed energy, and wireless technologies. From concept development and system architecture through modeling, integration, and test, Vadum delivers mission-focused solutions that solve complex electromagnetic challenges across defense and national security applications.

Solid-State HPM Amplifiers

Vadum develops advanced solid-state high power microwave (HPM) technologies that optimize RF power amplifier and antenna performance for next-generation directed energy systems. These high-efficiency, high-power RF architectures bridge the gap between traditional vacuum electronic HPM systems and conventional EW capabilities.

RF System Design and Directed Energy

The Compact HPM Counter Explosive System is a modular, lightweight, high-directivity, C-band radiating system that enables standoff protection against sensor-activated IEDs hidden in buildings, structures, roadways, and tunnels, or carried by drones. It is powered by a common rechargeable BB-2590 in a dismount form factor, adaptable to small or medium UAV and UGVs.

Antenna and Array Design

antenna array design

Vadum’s experience spans wide bandgap semiconductor fabrication and device design, theoretical and computational electro-magnetics, and antenna design and development from VHF to 110 GHz, including wire, patch, and dielectric antennas. These include single elements, both narrow and wide band, and passive and active phased arrays over a wide range of power levels.
