SENIOR COST ACCOUNTANT
Description
Vadum is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced full-time Senior Cost Accountant to join our growing team. This role is critical in ensuring the accuracy of cost accounting and financial reporting while supporting strategic decision-making across the organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cost accounting within government contracting, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead cost accounting activities including analysis, reporting, and auditing.
- Develop and implement cost accounting procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP and government regulations (DCAA/DCMA).
- Analyze cost variances and trends to support forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning.
- Maintain the general ledger and reconcile key accounts including AR, AP, inventory, and fixed assets.
- Generate accurate weekly, monthly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of invoices through WAWF and direct email.
- Manage accounts receivable collections, verify deposits, and reconcile customer accounts.
- Support internal and external audits, including DCAA and annual financial reviews.
- Collaborate with the Contract Manager to support contract close-outs and administrative compliance.
- Prepare the annual Incurred Cost Submission (ICS).
- Develop and manage budgeting, financial forecasting, and cash flow planning processes.
- Serve as subject matter expert and trainer for the company’s ERP system.
- Provide pricing analysis and financial input for bids, contract negotiations, and capital investment decisions
- Work closely with external CFO and CPA for financial planning and tax preparation.
- Identify areas for financial and operational improvement and recommend corrective actions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Maintain US Citizenship.
- Maintain Security Clearance
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP and FAR/DFARS compliance requirements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software; ERP system experience highly preferred
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Education/Training/Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
- CPA or CMA certification, preferred.
- Minimum of five years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in a government contracting environment.
- Strong experience with cost analysis, financial planning, and general ledger management.
